,.. Because Astrology is Not Something "Up There" - It is Something "In Here"

Every desire, even the desire for liberation, is actually a personal desire -- something related to the world and our self as an individual. When someone says they desire liberation, often what they really mean is they want liberation from their suffering so that they can fulfill their highest worldly desires. This not to say that desires are "bad", just limited - that is why 2 of the houses are cruel. (the 3rd and 11th)

Liberation is not something that we can achieve, so to speak. It is something we must relax into -- it is our true self. We don't create it - we discover it when we willingly let go of our ego. That's why the moksha houses are feminine. We relax into liberation when we let go of our desire. This is why the moksha houses come after kama houses. Moksha is the release point of Desire. Think about sex. This high desire expresses itself, then we go to sleep - smile

In order to become aware of what liberation is we need right understanding, Dharma. If we don't know who the true self is then the things we desire, even if we think its liberation, will be something related to the limited self, the ego. But the more we learn about who we truly are (as shown by the Dharma houses and planets in the chart) the more our ego dissolves toward the soul and the concept of our individual desires release into the realm of moksha, letting go.

But of course this means we have to let go of everything that feels liked us right now. We can all easily imagine letting go of our fear and our anger (especially if everyone else would just do what we want them to do!). This is what we imagine when we say we desire "liberation". Yet it is harder for us to imagine letting go of our "love" our "creativity" -- we like those things about ourself and we want to keep them or at least develop them more - we desire this development - we call it "Self Growth". But what is "Self?" In many ways truly seeking moksha is about letting go the things we love about life and that we fear we will lose.

The 11th house is this final point of worldly desire. In its highest expression we try to have liberation and still keep the parts of the ego that we like. We serve humanity, we are humble and what we call "selfless", but it is still for the ego - toward a better future for us as a person - the highest evolution of the person we are familiar with. The cycle of success and disappointment through the 11th house teaches us that ultimately all actions in the world are limited. As we simultaneously grow in self-knowledge amidst this desire fulfillment/disappointment cycle we realize that all of our external desires are projections of the internal desire to merge with the source of all.

Once we truly understand this and experience it, (through the body - dharma) we begin to let go and see the futility in worldly accomplishments to bring lasting peace and truth - not because the world is bad - but because it is limited and ultimately we are not.

Planets in the 11th house natally will show the high desires that also lead to our deepest disappointments. This cycle universalizes our desires toward humanity in general, then ultimately satiates our lust for worldly experience so we can let go and turn inward toward moksha - 12th house.
